Itinerary - Black Canyon Trips
Desert Adventures offers year-round canoe and kayak rentals in Black Canyon. With daily launches from the base
of the mighty Hoover Dam, you can experience the wonder of Black Canyon, and soak in natural hot springs. You might see desert bighorn
sheep, hawks, lizards, and can paddle into sea caves and hidden coves.
Winter paddling is relaxing, with smooth and glassy waters. Summer heat makes the Colorado river very inviting.
Day trips give you a quick overview, but those wishing to really explore should consider camping for 2-3 days
in the heart of Black Canyon.
Canoe and kayak rentals include boat, paddle, PFD, rope, topo map, and round-trip shuttle service.
PERMITS: Access to the launch site
requires each person obtain a $17 NPS permit. Permits are limited and sell out quickly
(up to 6 months in advance!) Call 702-293-5026 to reserve your permits today.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that self-guided paddlers are responsible for getting their group to the take-out point on time.
As a self-guided paddler, you are acknowledging that you are experienced in the outdoors and have adequate paddling
and self-rescue skills. Should yourself, your group, or the equipment need to be rescued, you will be responsible
for all charges incurred and any damages to equipment. Late fees will be assessed if you do not arrive at the
take-out point on time. Please see our Policies
Section for details.
Desert Adventures cannot be held responsible for weather conditions, wind, rain, heat, or other elements of nature.
Keep in mind, you are choosing to venture into a primitive area where access is limited and there is no cell phone
reception. You should be self-sufficient in rescues, and confident to deal with emergencies on your own. Plan ahead.
Take a paddling class and learn
how to be self-sufficient. You are responsible for yourself.
